Juice Fast - Day 1.

Today is the first day of our juice fast.  For the next 2 weeks (if this doesn't kill me sooner) I will be consuming only juice from fresh fruits and veggies.  I have decided to throw in raw veggies and fruits to crunch on when I feel like I need to chew something.  This is an attempt to detox my body and try to get healthy.  I think.  Or it is a suicide attempt.  I can't tell yet.

Oh sweet baby Jesus I am hungry.  Although my juice concoction this morning was delicious, it was not filling.  Between the juice and the 32 oz. of water I have taken in, all I can do is dream of cupcakes and pee.  A lot.

Ok, I am not actually dreaming of cupcakes.  As a matter of fact, I was just offered a cake ball and turned it down.  The surprising part is, I really didn't want it.  I already feel more alert and vitamin filled.  But I am hungry.  Those baby carrots are calling my name.  12:00 cannot come fast enough.  I never thought I would be so excited to drink green sludge and eat a carrot.

Tune in tomorrow for episode 2 where I lose my mind and bbq my cat.

Yoga - Take 1

  • Mar. 16th, 2009 at 10:21 PM
Reflections
Okay, tonight was yoga class number 1 and so far so good.  My body was thoroughly confused but very relaxed.  I had to twist myself into a pretzel at one point and my knees were not amused.  Neither were my ankles or my wrists.  All in all it wasn't so bad and I am sticking by my 5 class commitment.  I didn't fall once and I was able to complete every pose...in my own way.

Now, if I could only drag my butt to the gym...

Ode To An Italian Wedding Cookie

  • Feb. 28th, 2009 at 7:21 PM
Reflections
Gerri, I did this for you.  I asked someone at work for the cookie recipe his girlfriend uses to make these awesome Italian Wedding Cookies.  The recipe has 6 ingredients, so how hard could it be?  I was sure that if I followed all the directions my cookies would come out looking just like this...

Sadly, my cookies do not remotely resemble the lovely picture above.  What I ended up with was a crumbly mess of crap, as indicated below.

Doesn't look so bad?  You haven't seen the close-up...

I thought maybe my second tray would come out a little better.  I was just aiming for edible, but this is what I ended up with...

As much as I begged him not to, Bob insisted that he try one since I worked so hard on them.  That'll teach him to be polite.

All in all, I'm gonna have to give baking a big thumbs down.

I will leave the baking the Entenmann's  from now on.

I have been rejected by Target...

  • Dec. 8th, 2008 at 9:07 AM
Reflections

Yes folks, it's true.  I applied to Target for a second job...and they said no.  No offense to anyone who works at Target, but wtf?  I review legal contracts all day and design insurance policies from scratch to cover all aspects of those contracts, yet Target doesn't think I have what it takes to stand behind a register and ring up $15 sweaters!  This is a sad, sad day.

In biggest loser news, I gained 8oz. this week because I love sweets so much.  And they make me feel better when large retail chains reject me.  Looks like I might actually have to go to the gym this week...

Biggest Loser - Day 15

  • Nov. 10th, 2008 at 9:59 AM
Reflections

We had our second weigh in this morning and I lost another 2.8 lbs making the total loss 4.4 lbs over the past two weeks.  Not too shabby!  My co-worker is on a very strict diet - 4 egg whites for breakfast, turkey on whole wheat for lunch, and steamed chicken with a 1/2 cup of brown rice for dinner.  After all that suffering, she lost .6 lbs this week.

I happily ate my oatmeal this morning and made yum-yum noises.  Oh yes, this competition is getting serious!

Biggest Loser - Day 8

  • Nov. 3rd, 2008 at 9:28 AM
Reflections

This morning was weigh in and I am down 1.6 lbs.  I would feel a lot better about that if Jill hadn't lost 7 lbs in he first week!  She is on a hardcore diet and is hungry all the time, so she should be crashing and burning any day now.  Everyone else lost about 1 pound with the exception of two people that actually gained a couple of pounds.  I will be stepping it up at the gym this week and pushing myself a little harder.  The weight loss is nice, but I really just want to win.

Bob lost about ten lbs. this week and he is not even in the contest - bastard!  When that man decides to do something, he does it.

I am making a vow now that I will not weigh myself again until next Monday.  I am driving myslef crazy by stepping on the scale at the gym before I work out and then right after.  All I know is my pants are big and that make me happy.

Biggest Loser - Days 3&4

  • Oct. 30th, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Reflections

Day 3 was hard, but I am proud of myself for resisting temptation.  I was fine until mid-day when my sweet tooth was trying to bring me down.  I was good and did not run to Sarah's desk for a piece of chocolate.  Then came the evening when we arrived at Bob's parents and saw the 42 batches of cookies she just baked.  I am proud to say I did not have any...although I wanted one.

Today was the first day this didn't feel like a chore.  I happily ate my oatmeal this morning and had my yogurt 3 hours later.  I had a small portion of Bob's chicken chilli for lunch and am snacking on cucumbers as I type this.  While I was in the ladies room this morning I noticed that the pants I am wearing (which were tight on Monday) are now loose.  I guess I'm doing something right.  Tonight I will attempt to step up the cardio now that I understand how the controls on the treadmill work.

Biggest Loser - Day 2

  • Oct. 28th, 2008 at 4:18 PM
Reflections
Well, day 2 has been pretty easy.  We had a lunch meeting today, so my office provided pizza.  I brought a sensible Healthy Choice meal (which was absolutely delicious) and my competitors ate the greasy, cheese covered pizza.  Fran 1 - competition 0.  Heh.

I had so many last minute items to attend to that I was too busy to be hungry...until about 5 minutes ago.  An angel just handed me an apple so all is well again.  Bob spent all day making what I'm sure will be a delicious chicken chilli.  Today will also be my first day doing hard core cardio - god help me.

Too little, too late

  • Sep. 19th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Reflections
I found my new apartment on 08/23/08 and moved in on 08/30/08.  Prior to this move I left about 500 voicemails and sent about 3,000 emails inquiring about other apartments I was interested in.  The last phone call/email I sent was on  or about 08/21/08.

Can someone please explain to me why I received three voicemails and 1 email this week from people responding to my inquiries?  Why they hell did it take these people so long to get back to me?  If I was this shitty at my job I would be fired in a heartbeat.

I hate stupid people.  That is all.
